I am currently in Jimaní in the Haitian border (map below). It is utter chaos here. The president of the Dominican Republic is here and there is a large group of Dominican agencies that have massed here. None of them have crossed the border. There has been a constant flow of casualties coming from Haiti into the public hospital and another private clinic. Most of the casualties are cuts and broken bones. We have also seen a number of bodies as well. Quite a number of the injured are coming into the DR. We currently have a surgical team in the public hospital in Jimaní. They are from Peoria, IL. A group from Wausau, WI will arrive tonight for several days to help with medical treatment and to bring needed medical supplies and equipment We are looking at long-range plans for helping. Photos will be placed on our website this afternoon. We expect to post more over the next several days. We appreciate your prayers over the next several days.
